What is the difference between Oil pastel and Crayon?

Crayons are mostly made with wax, while oil pastels are a mix of non-drying oils and waxes. In addition to the differences in composition, there are many differences between the two:
When drawing with crayons, it takes a lot of effort to draw a complete color area, but oil pastels are relatively easy and smooth, suitable for large-scale coloring.
The color of the oil pastel is very rich, soft and somewhat creamy (don't want to use the word greasy). Therefore, it is easier to mix colors, and you can easily rub and mix colors with your fingers, similar to the feeling of rubbing lead cores in a sketch to mix colors. But crayons are relatively hard, so the colors don't mix so well. Of course, it may be especially easy to get color on your hands with oil pastels, but crayons are generally not so easy.

Look at the picture below:

The following pictures are from google, the specific author is unknown. Take the fruit as an example, the first one is the brush strokes of the oil pastel, you can see this thick and creamy brush strokes, and you can also see the smooth marks of the blue canvas rubbed.
Let's compare this picture again, let's leave the color aside for the time being, because the color saturation is also related to the painter's own preferences. You look at the brush strokes, because the crayon is relatively hard, so it will create a relatively delicate texture. Similar to colored lead, but with more wax luster than colored lead.
Because the oil pastel is thicker, it will have some layers of oil painting, while the crayon may not be so good. An oil pastel can cover a crayon picture just as it can cover many other surfaces - glass, wood, canvas, metal, stone; but crayons can only paint on paper.
